Campaign Story

Hi! I am Thrisha (35) and my husband is Daniel (37). We have been married for almost 15 years. After marriage, we decided to wait on having kids because we wanted them to have stable lives with parents in a good financial position (i.e., buy a home, good career, and all that fun stuff before thinking about kids). We accomplished all this: we are homeowners, my husband has a stable career in the education field, and I work part-time in education. However, this “waiting” to have kids has come with unexpected costs.

I was diagnosed with PCOS, and most recently (May 25th, 2023), complex hyperplasia with atypia (endometrial pre-cancer). I had surgery to remove polyps and my uterine lining to help my cancer risk. However, a biopsy 3 weeks later showed hyperplasia still remains. I have a high risk (up to 50%) that this will turn into endometrial cancer. I was told by the gynecological oncologist today that there is almost a 30% chance that could already have cancer that is hidden.

Ultimately, I need a hysterectomy to eliminate any cancer or cancer chances. However, I would really like to have a child first. My only hope is to get pregnant as soon as possible. My gynecological oncologist told me that pregnancy will ultimately halt any growth of the cancer cells, and I can safely carry a child. Unfortunately, PCOS and hyperplasia both make natural pregnancy very difficult. We need outside assistance from reproductive specialists. We have been told IVF is our best option. The longer it takes to get pregnant, the more biopsies I have to do, and the chances of me having cancer increase. Once it gets to full-blown cancer, I have no choice but to have a hysterectomy.

We really would love to be parents. These expenses were unexpected and we just don’t have this extra money saved right now. We are doing side jobs and gig work to help bring in money, but it is just not quick enough. This is embarrassing to ask, but we would forever regret not asking for help if it could bring us Baby Jones before it is too late.
